The three arts
Gathering, testing, expressing.
Grammar
The acquisition and ordering of information about any subject — not language alone, but the raw material of knowledge itself, gathered and understood on its own terms before it is questioned.
Logic
The discipline of thinking critically and analytically — subjecting what has been learned to the scrutiny of reason, testing it for consistency, and separating what holds from what merely sounds true.
Rhetoric
The art of conveying understanding to others in the clearest and most persuasive form — the point at which private understanding becomes something that can be shared, defended, and taught.
Grammar lessons and comic strips together, logic with gamebooks, and rhetoric. See also the essay writing guide.

What is the Trivium?
The three arts of language: grammar (gathering knowledge), logic (testing it) and rhetoric (expressing it). Trivium Home School applies them to learning English, so students learn not only the language but how to think and speak clearly in it.
